This site is run by J.C. Connors, a Seattle-based game designer and fervent fan of tabletop games. Here you’ll find a collection of 100% free roleplaying adventures I’ve authored (plus some authored by guest authors) — and the design thinking behind them.
I like lots of different roleplaying systems, but you’ll mostly find material for GURPS, Call of Cthulhu, OSR/D&D. You can also find me on my YouTube channel for RPG tips, reviews, and overviews of these adventures. If you’re looking to get started, you can find a complete list of the adventures in the Adventure Index.
FAQ
Q. Why did you start this site?
I started this site because I often run adventures at conventions, and decided it was silly not to share my work. My goal is always to give fellow GMs all the stuff they need to run a “professional grade” adventure with their friends with as little effort as possible. This means my adventures usually include not just the adventure itself, but also cool handouts, pregenerated characters, and virtual tabletop assets (VTT) for GMs running their games online. Prepping great adventures and GM’ing is time intensive, so hopefully this site helps!
Q. Can I run one of your adventures at a convention, or on a podcast or Twitch stream?
Of course!
Q. I’d love to port one of your adventures to another game system or another language – can I do that?
Yes! And if you’d like to share the results with me, there’s a good chance I can make that available here for others. Contact me first and I can probably help by sharing some of the original files.
Q. How can I help?
If you played or ran any of these adventures, all I ask is that you post a comment here and let me know how it went. Comment on this site, or find me on Bluesky at @1shotjc.bsky.social or Threads @thalcos
Also, you can always Buy Me a Coffee, and 100% of any donations get invested right back into the adventures here.
Q. Do you use AI in these adventures?
100% of the writing of these adventures is my own. You can see most of the adventures here predate AI by several years 🙂 Obviously, I use tools for spell check, grammar check, etc.
Some adventures use AI for spot art and VTT assets. I vastly prefer to use actual artists, and I’ve happily spent my own money on Fiverr to fund some fantastic artists for my favorite adventures. But there’s a limit to what I can fund for what is essentially a free site. Any donations made on Buy Me a Coffee goes towards real artists.
Q. What tools do you use to make these adventures?
It depends on the adventure. All of them are written and designed in InDesign. I use Photoshop for illustrations and spot art, along with various Photoshop plugins. For maps, I jump between Illustrator, Dungeondraft, Inkarnate, and One Page Dungeon. Creative Market has been a boon for Photoshop actions, stock assets, and more.
